I know that there's a lot of people that haven't been to our club or sim yet, this means that they have no idea what to expect when they arrive to start exploring. So today I'm going to share an image that was forwarded to me, which gives a great view of the front of the club. It's off hours, so there's no people blocking the view in it.
So what are we actually looking at in this image? Well, that's easy enough for me to see, but I spend plenty of time at clubs in second life. So for those of you that don't I'll give you an overview of what's shown in the image. For new players of Second life, this information could come in handy at a variety of locations. Which means I'm going to edit in some numbers, just because I can, so that you can see what we have at the main venue.
- Iron Fist - This is a HUGE iron fist that is sort of the club mascot. It's also used to collect sim donations.
- The Radio Board- During the day this lists what station is being played on sim, and usually will show the titles of bands and songs as they are played on sim. It also will display the DJ's profile picture if they are actively streaming.
- The DJ Booth- Some DJ's will stand behind the booth during their shifts, while others enjoy dancing with the patrons during their events.
- The Contest Board- If there's a contest going on during an event (which generally speaking there is) The board will be active for people to join for a chance at winning some L. (for those unfamiliar with SL, L is the shorthand used for Linden which is the in world currency)
- Dance Chims- another interesting item found in second life. A dance chim contains an animation override that makes your avatar dance, until you request it to stop animating you.
- Sploder- A Sploder is a type of game, I'd say the best way to describe it is small time gambling.
- Trivia Orb- Different than the Sploder, the Trivia Orb asks questions (20 of them usually) paying out 5L for each correct answer.
- DJ Tip Board -I think the name explains it all. But in case you wonder why we have tip boards at the club, the reason is this; Club staff volunteer their time in order to help entertain the visitors to the sim. It's nice when people let them know their time is appreciated.
- Host Tip Board- See number 8. It's just for the Host instead of the DJ.
- Sponsors and Mall Shop Switch Board- This board does a slide show displaying the logo's of the various shops and sponsors associated with the club and sim. Subliminal advertising anyone?*teases* But yeah, it's great because it shows that there is variety.
- Staff Images- Similar to number 10, it flickers though various staff member images.
